Brush up on your superlatives, because there may have just been a shift of power: Jay Chou has been dubbed one of Asia's 25 most influential individuals or groups by CNNGo.
Listed next to Bo Xilai (the corruption-busting governor of
Chongqing) and Ratan Tata (maker of cheapy cheap car Nano), and
Shanghai's own Zhou Libo, Jay Chou was deemed "entertainer
extraordinaire." They cited his NT$554 million payday, as well as his
upcoming role in The Great Hornet (with Seth Rogan -- NOT Nicholas Cage
as the site claims). No mention of the girls he's melted with his killer
looks and supernatural hair.
It may seem incredulous to compare Jay Chou to, say, Xilai, but to be
fair, CNNGo didn't seek to list the most morally awesome individuals,
or the people who will save the world -- simply the most prolific, and
yes, influential. Incredible album sales and legions of fans don't lie.
But still...
Ok, confession: we just hoped that we would be on that list. Or any list. Oh, wait... never mind then.
